Strategic planning offers a critical pathway for nonprofits to better achieve their mission. There are so many benefits, including increased focus, support, accountability and ability to measure impact. Yet the vast majority of small nonprofits who do not have plans miss this opportunity to think deeply about their work and expand their capacity to deliver more powerfully on their mission. In 2017, Washington Nonprofits– supported by the Satterberg Foundation– launched this Strategic Planning in Nonprofits (SPiN) initiative designed to significantly increase the number of nonprofits guided by strategic plans.
During the first phase of SPiN, Washington Nonprofits developed the Strategic Planning in Nonprofits toolkit, a set of videos with a supporting kit and key documents. These resources, which were designed for DIY Planning, are available on the Washington Nonprofit Institute website. They also serve as the supporting materials for a day-long planning workshop offered in communities across Washington and online.
Washington Nonprofits is convening its 2nd Strategic Planning cohort, this time in North King County. Click here for more information. (Note: The 2018 Strategic Planning cohort has been filled.)
SPiN Request for Support
SPiN is designed around DIY planning, yet there may come a time when you need help figuring out a challenge. Washington Nonprofits had made help available. Read more here.
