Washington Nonprofits stands in solidarity with our Asian American colleagues, friends, family, and neighbors. While Asian Americans have faced racism throughout our nation’s history, the rise in anti-Asian violence in Washington and nation-wide is clear, and the racist and misogynist murders in Atlanta on March 16th are a stark and horrifying example. We know that when a hate crime like this happens, it impacts others in the targeted group in many ways, undermining their sense of safety and triggering memories of past harassment and discrimination.
Washington Nonprofits denounces white supremacy and acts of terrorism that continue to fuel discrimination and violence against Asian Americans and other People of Color in the United States. Nonprofits are known for their values-based leadership. Together, we have an important role to play in addressing racism and hate in our organizations and in our communities.
We urge you join us in opportunities to learn and build skills to become more anti-racist as individuals and organizations. We would like to highlight a few resources below.

Our hearts go out to all affected by this tragedy, especially the families of Daoyou Feng, Hyun J. Grant, Suncha Kim, Paul Andre Michels, Soon C. Park, Xiojie Tan, Delaina Ashley Yaun, and Yong Yue. We hope for healing for Elcias Hernandez-Ortiz, who was wounded in the attack.
