Expanding our view of leadership

Over the past year, Washington Nonprofits has been working with a collaborative of capacity building organizations to improve access to quality leadership development opportunities for nonprofit and community leaders.  This Leadership Development Partnership has designed a “Learning Connections” searchable online catalog that will be hosted by 501 Commons and will launch in mid-September.  Washington Nonprofits coordinated an effort to hear the voices of some community leaders from underrepresented communities, and we have now published a report summarizing what we heard from 40 participants from across Washington.  Here are the key findings: Current leadership development programs are not reflective of the […]

Thanks to the over 385 people who contributed their thoughts and ideas during our 2017 Listening Tour. You can download the resulting report here. We learned a great deal about the nonprofit landscape, how it varies regionally, and what issues are of greatest concern to nonprofits currently. We are excited to apply this information to improve our impact here at Washington Nonprofits.

A new tool to find relevant data for your organization

Do you wish you had better data about the community you serve? Not sure where to start? Headwaters Economics, a research consulting firm based in Montana, has developed some tools that aggregate federal data and make it available via free tools on their website. The Economic Profile System allows you to create a custom profile for your area with a wealth of information about demographics, local economics and land use.
