Puget Sound

Puget Sound includes two main regions. The central Puget Sound area of Snohomish, King, Pierce, and Kitsap Counties has the largest number of nonprofits in Washington. Each of these counties has a community foundation supporting the nonprofits in their county. The second region is the south Puget Sound area of Mason, Lewis and Thurston Counties. The Community Foundation of South Puget Sound partners with Washington Nonprofits and others to ensure nonprofit learning in this region. Washington Nonprofits is proud to partner with the four other northwest state nonprofit associations to release a comprehensive study on the capacity, strengths, and challenges of the region’s nonprofit sector. The 2016 Northwest Nonprofit Capacity Report: Our Strengths – Our Challenges – Our Resilience was developed using survey data from over 1,000 nonprofits in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington.
