Announcing “Liquor, Cannabis, Gambling… and Your Fundraising Event,” a new toolkit produced by Washington Nonprofits in partnership with Wayfind and the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board! With support from the Office of the Secretary of State, this resource was designed to help you stay legal at your next fundraising event.
“I’ve spent a lot of time studying what you need to know so that you don’t have to,” said Washington Nonprofits Director of Learning & Engagement, Nancy Bacon. “We broke liquor rules down into seven parts with an easy flowchart to help you make decisions.” The toolkit includes an “Event Planner” worksheet to walk you through the elements of an event that typically involve liquor or gambling.
Washington Nonprofits worked closely with Beth Lehman of the Liquor and Cannabis Board. “My job is to help educate nonprofits to successfully and legally provide alcohol at events and profit from it. Washington Nonprofits has created a great toolkit to help you in creating your event while staying in compliance. I am excited to share that toolkit with everyone.”
The toolkit includes information on gambling, which often takes the form of raffles within events. Nonprofits should note that the permitting of gambling will change in July 2018.
