Action Alert: Tell Congress to Include Nonprofits in CARES Act 2.0

April 9, 2020

Nonprofits are everywhere. The people we serve are everywhere. YOU are everywhere.

Right now, the U.S. Congress is considering further supports for small businesses and nonprofits in response to Covid-19. Washington Nonprofits is here to ensure your voice is heard in this process. We ask you to take 5 minutes to contact your senators and representatives today.

Nonprofits are woven into the fabric of our country from feeding the hungry, to housing the unsheltered, to serving the vulnerable, to lifting our spirits, to striving for a fair shake, to protecting our environment, to just about every aspect of our lives. Tell your story.

Contact your member of Congress TODAY.

Tell them to:

  • Ensure more grants and forgivable loans for the nonprofit sector
  • Get funds into the hands of service providers NOW and for the long haul
  • Include support for “frontline” nonprofit workers

You can use this script:

I [work for/serve on the board of/support] [nonprofit]. I’m counting on you to include nonprofits in COVID-19 relief by ensuring that the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is expanded and has a set-aside for nonprofits. I also request that Personal Protection Equipment is made available or frontline workers at nonprofits, and that you invest in nonprofits during and after this crisis. The work we do is essential to a speedy recovery for communities in Washington State.

If you’d like, share a brief story that illustrates the value of your work.
